What You Must Understand About Roulette
The rules of roulette are reasonably straightforward. Thirty-seven numbers are presented on the casino table ranging from 0-36; you can place bets on whichever number you choose. Aside from that, you can place bets on the outer fields, which are comprised of number combinations that allow you to bet on multiple numbers at once. For instance, you can place a bet on black or red, odd or even, groups of numbers ranging from 1-12, 13-24, or 25-36, and more. The outer fields encompass all of the numbers, excluding zero, which is considered the bogeyman for players. Once you have placed your wager, the croupier tosses a number. If your number is equivalent to the tossed number, you will gather a pre-determined multiple amount of your wager.
The game of roulette has two variations: American and European roulette. For now, we will not take into consideration the third variation, which is French roulette. There is a minimal difference between the two game types. On the European table, you will find a zero; in American roulette, you will notice a double zero beside it.

This minimal difference creates the most significant rule which is to avoid playing the American table. The house's benefit with having a zero on the European table is around 2.7%, in contrast with the American variation where the second zero raises the benefit to 5.26%.
The house advantage comes from the fact that the casino will pay out less for wins than what you should be getting, depending on the possibility of winning the bet. For instance if you bet on black, then your odds of winning are 18:37 since zero indicates neutrality. This means, if the ball lands on zero or any red numbers, you lose. However, the casino will only pay double your money once you've won, so it is rational that having two zeros on an American table lowers the odds of gaining funds.
